2020 Ford F-150
2020 Ford F-150 oil check and with-filter capacity by engine, from the July 2019 owner's manual. Drain-plug torque is not in those pages.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
Main source: 2020 F-150 Owner's Manual, version 3, English, United States, edition July 2019 (opens in a new tab), Ford Motor Company, published 2019-07-01, read 2026-10-15.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Funnel
The gasoline top-up steps say you may need a funnel at the filler cap.
Clean lint-free cloth
The gasoline oil-check steps say to wipe the dipstick with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Set the parking brake and put the transmission in Park or Neutral. Run the engine to normal temperature, park on level ground, switch it off, and wait 15 minutes. Open the hood, wipe the dipstick, seat it, and read it again. The level should sit between the minimum and maximum marks. At the minimum mark, add oil immediately. Between the marks, do not add oil.
Clean around the cap, turn it counterclockwise, and add oil that meets the spec for that engine. You may need a funnel. Recheck the dipstick, seat it, and turn the cap clockwise until it resists. The 2.7L EcoBoost and the 3.5L EcoBoost take SAE 5W-30, 6.0 qt (5.7 L) with the filter. The 3.3L takes SAE 5W-20, 6.0 qt (5.7 L) with the filter. The 5.0L takes SAE 5W-20, 8.8 qt (8.3 L) with the filter. Those are capacities including the filter, not a top-up amount.
Motorcraft numbers in the same manual are FL-2062 for the 2.7L EcoBoost and FL-500-S for the 3.3L, the 3.5L EcoBoost, and the 5.0L. If a Motorcraft oil filter is not available, the manual says to use a filter that meets SAE/USCAR-36. It does not print a drain-plug torque.
The 3.0L Power Stroke capacity including the filter is 6.5 qt (6.15 L) of Motorcraft SAE 5W-30 F-150 diesel oil meeting WSS-M2C214-B1. The filter is FL-2081. For severe duty, and for biodiesel blends up to B20, the diesel section says to use SAE 5W-40 API CK-4. Do not pour the gasoline 5W-20 or 5W-30 spec into the diesel.
For ambient temperatures at or below −22°F (−30°C), the gasoline sections allow SAE 0W-30 meeting WSS-M2C953-B1 on the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost, and SAE 0W-20 meeting WSS-M2C947-B1 on the 3.3L and 5.0L. That is a cold-start alternative, not the normal fill.
The manual's under-hood pages name the filler cap and the dipstick with letters. They do not describe where those parts sit relative to each other in words. This page links the manual instead of inventing a layout. Earlier F-150 years use different 5.0L capacities, so do not copy the 8.8 quart figure onto a 2015–2017 truck.
