2017 F-150 with-filter oil from the July 2016 second printing. The 5.0L is 7.7 qt. Later books that print 8.8 qt are a different year.
At a glance
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
- Difficulty
- Estimate only. The manual prints a level check and capacities. It does not print a drain-plug torque or a labor time.
- Time
- Estimate only. The level check includes a 15-minute wait after shutdown.
- Cost
- Estimate only. Oil and the Motorcraft filter for that engine. This is not a price.
- Tools
- Funnel, Clean lint-free cloth
- Key torque
- No torque is cited on this page.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Notes
The with-filter quantities are refill capacities, not the amount to add when the dipstick is only a little low. Soak up spills. Seat the dipstick and the cap when you are done.
The 2018 oil guide and the 2020 oil guide are later printings. Their 5.0L capacity is 8.8 qt. 2015 and 2016 are the earlier years of this body and are not filed here, because this July 2016 printing was the book that was read.
Cabin filter, engine air filter, coolant, and spark-plug intervals from the same schedule are on the other 2017 guides. Tire rotation is listed at every oil-change interval. The rotation pattern is not printed in the schedule text that was read, so it is not drawn on the tire-rotation guide.
