2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2015 Silverado 1500 oil from the June 20, 2014 owner's manual. The 4.3L is 6.0 qt of 5W-30. The 5.3L and 6.2L print 8.5 qt of 0W-20.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.

Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.

| Item | Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 4.3L V6, with filter | 5.7 L (6.0 qt). SAE 5W-30. dexos1. | Capacities and Specifications, and viscosity grade |
| 5.3L V8 and 6.2L V8, with filter | 8.0 L (8.5 qt). SAE 0W-20. dexos1. | Capacities and Specifications, and viscosity grade |
| Cold operation | Below −29°C (−20°F), SAE 0W-30 may be used in the 4.3L. It still has to meet dexos1. The same sentence also names the 6.0L, which is a 2500/3500 engine in the capacity table and is not given a 1500 oil quantity here. | Viscosity grade, cold temperature operation |
| Dipstick add | If the oil is below the cross-hatched area, add 1 L (1 qt) and recheck. | When to add engine oil |
If the engine has been running, shut it off and wait several minutes. Pull the dipstick, wipe it, seat it fully, and read it with the tip down.
Add 1 L (1 qt) of the recommended oil and recheck. Do not add so much that the level rises above the cross-hatched area.
Do not replace 8.5 qt with the 2020 book's 8.0 qt unless you are working from a GM document you have read for this VIN. This page has not read that document.
Cooling-system quarts from the same capacity page are on the 2015 coolant guide. The 2020 oil guide is the later book. 2014 and 2016–2017 are not filed here.

This printing's English cell is 8.5 qt and its metric cell is 8.0 L. A later GM correction is discussed elsewhere and was not read for this page, so it is not adopted here. The 2020 owner's manual is a different book and prints 8.0 qt for the L84 and the 6.2L.
