2017 Fusion with-filter oil is 4.3 qt of 5W-20 on the 1.5L, 5.7 qt of 5W-30 on the 2.0L, 5.7 qt of 5W-20 on the 2.5L, and 6.0 qt of 5W-30 on the 2.7L.

Safety

Park, set the parking brake, and put the transmission in Park or Neutral. Wait 15 minutes after shutdown before you read the dipstick.
Do not remove the dipstick or the filler cap while the engine is running.
Do not add oil above the maximum mark. The book says levels above that mark may cause engine damage.
Do not use supplemental engine oil additives. The book says they are unnecessary and can cause damage the warranty may not cover.
This book does not print a drain-plug torque or a filter torque. Those numbers are not added here.

Symptoms

The information display says Oil Change Required when oil life reaches 0 percent.
The level is at the minimum mark after the 15-minute wait.

Diagnosis

1.5L dipstick is the two-mark figure E199415. The 2.0L, 2.5L, and 2.7L share the two-mark figure E169062. Both mark minimum and maximum.
A level between the marks is acceptable. The book says not to add oil in that range.
New engines reach normal oil consumption after about 3,100 miles (5,000 km).

Steps

01Read the dipstick after 15 minutes
Set the parking brake, select Park or Neutral, run the engine to normal temperature, shut it off, and wait 15 minutes on level ground. Wipe the dipstick, seat it, and read it again. Do not pull it while the engine is running.
02Add oil only at the minimum mark
A level between minimum and maximum is acceptable. If it is at the minimum mark, add the viscosity for that engine through a funnel. Clean around the cap first, turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it, and clockwise until it resists when you install it.
03Use the filter named for that engine
When the oil and filter are changed, the 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L use FL-910S and the 2.7L uses FL-2062. Reset the oil-life monitor from Settings, Vehicle, Oil Life, then hold OK until the cluster says Reset Successful and shows 100 percent.

Notes

The February 2016 second printing is the 2017 Fusion book. It does not describe draining the pan. Capacities are with-filter fill quantities from the engine tables, then the dipstick decides the level.

The coolant guide uses the same capacity chapter. Spark-plug gaps are on the spark plug guide. A 2018 or later Fusion quart is not this table.

API oil has to show the certification mark. The book says not to use an oil labeled API SN unless that mark is also on the label. Canada and U.S. Motorcraft bottle numbers are different rows in the same tables. Mexico numbers are also printed and are not repeated as the U.S. or Canada part.

Common mistakes

Pouring 5W-20 into the 2.0L or the 2.7L. Those engines are 5W-30.
Using FL-910S on the 2.7L. That engine's table lists FL-2062.
Treating the with-filter capacity as a top-up amount. The check procedure adds oil only to move the level off the minimum mark.
Copying a drain-plug torque from another Ford. This printing does not state one.

Not in this second printing. The oil pages are a level check and a top-up, plus the capacity and the filter number.
