In-depth guide
2017 Ford Fusion
2017 Fusion automatic fluid is Motorcraft MERCON LV. Dry-fill is about 9.0 qt on the 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L, and about 11.6 qt on the 2.7L.
| Item | Figure |
|---|---|
| 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L capacity | 9.0 qt (8.5 L). The footnote says this is an approximate dry fill and the amount may vary during a fluid change. |
| 2.7L EcoBoost capacity | 11.6 qt (11 L). Approximate dry fill. The actual amount may vary during a fluid change. |
| Fluid | Motorcraft MERCON LV, specification WSS-M2C938-A. U.S. and Mexico XT-10-QLVC. Canada CXT-10-LV12. |
| 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L level | These transmissions do not have a dipstick. The book says to have a dealer check and change the fluid. The transmission does not consume fluid. |
| 2.7L level | Check with the engine running, in Park, on level ground, at 179 F to 199 F (82 C to 93 C), after about 20 miles (30 km). Keep the level between the MIN and MAX marks. |
| Change | Normal chart: every 150,000 miles (240,000 km). Towing or car-top carrier, and extensive idling: every 30,000 miles (48,000 km). |

Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.

The 2.7L check says to wipe the dipstick with a clean, lint-free cloth.
Funnel
The 2.7L add steps say to pour MERCON LV into the dipstick tube.

The 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L section says there is no dipstick and a dealer checks and changes the fluid. The 2.7L section has a dipstick.
Level ground, engine at normal temperature of 179 F to 199 F after about 20 miles, engine running, Park. Wipe the dipstick, reinstall it, and read between MIN and MAX. Add MERCON LV only if it is at MIN.
The normal chart says 150,000 miles. Towing, a car-top carrier, or extensive idling says 30,000 miles. Do not add additives.
The 2.7L all-wheel-drive rear differential and power-transfer-unit rows are in the same capacity table. They are not transmission fluid. The rear-differential check footnote says to contact a dealer for level checking and filling. Those quarts are left off this page so they are not poured into the transmission.
The printed word in the 2.7L section is "temprature" and "conition." The temperatures and the underfill warning are still the ones in that section.
Brake fluid in the same materials table is Motorcraft DOT 4 LV, PM-20, specification WSS-M6C65-A2. That is the brake guide, not this fluid.

Approximate dry fill is 9.0 qt (8.5 L) on the 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L, and 11.6 qt (11 L) on the 2.7L. The book says the amount used in a fluid change can differ.
Only the 2.7L has the dipstick procedure. The 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L page says the transmission has no dipstick and sends the check to a dealer.
