2008 Ford Escape
Engine air filter replacement for the 2008 Ford Escape, from the owner's guide. Both engines list Motorcraft FA-1683. No housing drawing is included.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
Main source: 2008 Escape (204) Owner's Guide, USA, air filter section (opens in a new tab), Ford Motor Company, published 2008-01-01, read 2026-10-15.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Screwdriver or clamp tool for the inlet tube
The guide says to loosen the clamp and disconnect the air inlet tube on the V6 only. It does not name a driver size.
| Item | Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Air filter element, 2.3L and 3.0L | Motorcraft FA-1683 | Owner's guide Motorcraft part numbers |
Loosen the clamp that holds the air inlet tube to the engine air filter cover and disconnect the tube from the cover. The owner's guide says this step is for the V6 only.
Release the clamps that hold the cover. Carefully separate the two halves of the housing and take the element out.
Wipe the housing and the cover so dirt does not keep them from sealing.
Install a new element without crimping the edges between the housing and the cover. Put the cover back and secure the clamps. Reconnect the inlet tube and tighten its clamp. The listed element for both the 2.3L and the 3.0L is Motorcraft FA-1683.
The owner's guide prints this as a written procedure, not as a figure this page can retrace. Clamp count and which side the inlet tube sits on are not stated, aside from the V6-only tube step, so there is no housing diagram.
Outbound links only. BaySheet does not sell parts. Confirm fitment on the retailer page. Amazon links are searches for the part name plus this vehicle. They are not a part number.
