What torque do the caliper bolts get?
That torque was not in the sources read. The 100 lb.ft figure is the wheel lug nut, on its own guide, and it is not a caliper torque. Use the Ford service procedure for the 2008 Escape front brakes.

In-depth guide
2008 Ford Escape
Front brake pads on a 2008 Ford Escape. Caliper-bolt torque was not in the sources read. Lug nuts are on the wheel-lug guide.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
Main source: 2008 Escape (204) Owner's Guide, USA, brake system warning and wheel lug nuts (opens in a new tab), Ford Motor Company, published 2008-01-01, read 2026-10-15.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Torque wrench
Needed for the lug nuts after the wheel goes back on. The figure and the tightening order are on the wheel lug nut guide. The order is a figure and is not redrawn.
Jack and jack stands
The lug-nut guide says to loosen the nuts a half turn before the wheel is off the ground, and not to finish tightening until the wheel is lowered. Do not work under a car held only by a jack.
| Item | Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Caliper bracket torque and pad hardware torque | Not in the sources read. Do not use the lug-nut torque as a caliper torque. | This page. Ford service information has the caliper procedure. |
| Wheel lug nuts, if the wheel comes off | Cited on the wheel lug nut guide. M12 x 1.5, 100 lb.ft (135 N-m), order in the owner's guide figure, retighten at 500 miles. | 2008 Escape owner's guide wheel lug nut specifications |
Noise at one front wheel while braking is a reason to inspect that wheel. A warning light is a reason to read the owner's guide warning, not a reason to assume the pads are the only fault.
If you are going to look at the pads, the wheel has to come off. The lug procedure is already cited. It is not repeated as a new number here.
Caliper-pin torque, bracket torque, and the piston method were not in the owner's guide or in the 3.0L oil-pan text. Inventing them is how pads bind or a bolt snaps.
Finish the lug nuts only after the wheel is lowered, to the figure on the lug-nut guide, and retighten at 500 miles (800 km) after any wheel disturbance. That sentence is the owner's guide. It is not a caliper spec.
The wheel goes back on with the wheel lug nut guide. Open that page for the 100 lb.ft figure, the warning about clean mounting surfaces, and the 500-mile recheck. This page does not repeat the tightening order because the order is a figure.
Ford service information for the 2008 Escape is the document that has the caliper bolts, the bracket bolts, and any rotor measurement. Until that procedure is read, those numbers stay off this page.
An oil leak at the pan is a different job. See the oil pan gasket guide if the drip is oil rather than brake noise.

A pad problem shows up when you brake, as noise or a pull. A rear-main leak is oil at the back of the engine, which is the oil pan guide's diagnosis, not a brake job. A wheel-bearing growl usually changes with road speed more than with the pedal. No bearing torque was read, so this page does not turn a noise into a bearing spec.
