2020 Ford Escape
2020 Escape engine air filter is FA-1939 on the EcoBoost engines and FA-1948 on the 2.5L hybrid. The manual prints the removal steps.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
Main source: 2020 Escape Owner's Manual, third printing, August 2020, changing the engine air filter (opens in a new tab), Ford Motor Company, published 2020-08-01, read 2026-10-15.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Screwdriver for the intake-boot clamp
Both procedures start by loosening the clamp on the air filter housing cover with a screwdriver.
| Item | Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5L EcoBoost and 2.0L EcoBoost | Motorcraft FA-1939. | Motorcraft parts, air filter element |
| 2.5L HEV and PHEV | Motorcraft FA-1948. | Motorcraft parts, 2.5L HEV/PHEV air filter element |
Loosen the clamp on the housing cover with a screwdriver, pull the boot back, and release the two clips. Remove the cover and the element.
Wipe dirt out of the housing so debris does not enter the engine and the cover can seal. Install the new element without crimping its edges between the housing and the cover.
Install the cover, engage the clips, reconnect the boot, and tighten it securely. The non-hybrid and 2.5L hybrid procedures use the same written order.
Scheduled maintenance says to replace the engine air filter every 30,000 miles, and more often when inspected in severe service. The interval is a schedule item. The part number still comes from the Motorcraft table for that engine.
