Safety

• Replace the filter at regular intervals. The procedure does not print a mile number.
• The Ford Protect page in this book mentions cabin air filter replacement every 20,000 mi (32,000 km) for electric vehicles only. That sentence is not the F-150 procedure.
• Do not treat the 2019 F-150 instruction, which sends the job to a dealer, as this procedure. This edition prints the glove-box steps.

Symptoms

• The procedure says the filter traps dust, pollen, and other particles. It does not list a smell or an airflow test.

Diagnosis

1. FP-92 is the cabin filter number on every engine parts table read in this edition.
2. The replacement steps are in the interior air quality section. They are not the 2019 sentence that sends the job to a dealer.

1. 01Open and drop the glove compartment

   Open the glove compartment. Press the tab on each side. Fully lower the glove compartment. Pull the glove compartment toward you.

2. 02Open the filter door and replace the element

   Unclip both sides of the filter door and swing the door down. Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one. The parts tables list FP-92 for every engine table in this edition.

Common mistakes

• Buying FP-79 because a 2018, 2019, or 2020 F-150 table lists it. This edition lists FP-92.
• Using the Ford Protect electric-vehicle interval of 20,000 mi (32,000 km) as the F-150 interval. The procedure only says regular intervals.
