With the engine at operating temperature and turned off, wait more than 5 minutes. Pull the dipstick out with a rag under the end, wipe it, reinsert it fully, and pull it out again. The level is read between the low mark and the refill upper-limit mark. The 1.8 L and 2.0 L dipsticks are separate figures.
Remove the filler cap counterclockwise, add oil slowly while checking the dipstick, and install the cap clockwise. The 1.8 L 2ZR-FAE grade is ILSAC GF-6A SAE 0W-20. The 2.0 L M20A-FKS grade is ILSAC GF-6B SAE 0W-16.
With the filter, the 1.8 L reference is 4.4 qt (4.2 L) and the 2.0 L reference is 4.9 qt (4.6 L). Without the filter, those references are 4.1 qt (3.9 L) and 4.5 qt (4.3 L). A top-up is whatever the dipstick still needs.
Publication OM02617U does not print the model year on the pages that carry these tables. Helm lists that publication as the English 2022 Corolla owner's manual, and Toyota's owners site sends printed-manual orders to Helm. The PDF itself is the Toyota-hosted file. A 5W-20 sentence in the extracted text sits between the two engine blocks and is not used here.
