Turn the engine switch off. Open the glove box. Slide off the damper if equipped. Push in the glove box on the vehicle's outer side to disconnect the claws, then pull out the glove box and disconnect the lower claws.
Unlock the filter cover, pull the filter cover out of the claws, and remove the filter cover. Remove the filter case.
Remove the air conditioning filter from the filter case and replace it with a new one. The UP marks on the filter and the filter case should point up.
The 2022 Corolla book says to replace the air conditioning filter on the maintenance schedule, and earlier in dusty areas or heavy traffic. The schedule reference on that page is the Scheduled Maintenance Guide or the Owner's Manual Supplement. If airflow from the vents decreases dramatically, the filter may be clogged.
The glove-box damper is marked "if equipped." The cover claws are a figure, so this page names the written steps and does not draw the glove box.
