2022 Toyota Corolla
2022 Toyota Corolla coolant type and reference capacity by engine, transmission, and reservoir type, from publication OM02617U.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
Main source: Corolla Owner's Manual, publication OM02617U, cooling system (opens in a new tab), Toyota Motor North America, published 2021-07-15, read 2026-10-15.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Toyota Super Long Life Coolant
Add it only when the engine is cold, up to the FULL or MAX line for the reservoir on the car.
| Item | Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Coolant type | Toyota Super Long Life Coolant, or a similar high-quality ethylene glycol coolant that is non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate, with long-life hybrid organic acid technology. Do not use plain water alone. | Cooling system specifications |
| U.S. mix | 50 percent coolant and 50 percent deionized water. Minimum temperature -31 F (-35 C). | Checking the engine coolant |
| Canada mix | 55 percent coolant and 45 percent deionized water. Minimum temperature -44 F (-42 C). | Checking the engine coolant |
| 1.8 L 2ZR-FAE capacity | CVT 6.1 qt (5.8 L, 5.1 Imp. qt). Manual 5.9 qt (5.6 L, 4.9 Imp. qt). Reference. | Cooling system capacity |
| 2.0 L, type A reservoir | CVT 6.6 qt (6.2 L, 5.5 Imp. qt). Manual 6.2 qt (5.9 L, 5.2 Imp. qt). Reference. | Cooling system capacity |
| 2.0 L, type B reservoir | CVT 6.8 qt (6.4 L, 5.6 Imp. qt). Manual 6.4 qt (6.1 L, 5.4 Imp. qt). Reference. | Cooling system capacity |
Type A is satisfactory between the FULL and LOW lines. Type B is satisfactory between the MAX and MIN lines. The engine must be cold. The manual shows each reservoir in a figure this page does not redraw.
If type A is on or below LOW, add coolant to the FULL line. If type B is on or below MIN, add coolant to the MAX line. Use the U.S. or Canada mix printed for Toyota Super Long Life Coolant.
The 1.8 L capacity depends on CVT versus manual. The 2.0 L capacity depends on reservoir type and on CVT versus manual. Those quarts are reference capacities, not the amount to pour into a reservoir that is only a little low.
If the level drops again soon after a top-up, the manual says to look for a leak and, if you cannot find one, have a dealer test the cap. No drain-cock torque is printed in this section.
