2019 Honda CR-V
2019 Honda CR-V oil grade, capacities, and drain-bolt torque. The manual also says the owner should not change the oil.
Difficulty, time, and cost are estimates when this guide gives them. Torque is a cited figure, or it is left off.
Main source: 2019 CR-V Owner's Manual, oil change procedure and specifications (opens in a new tab), American Honda Motor Co., Inc., published 2019-01-01, read 2026-10-15.
Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Dealer service, if you follow the warning
The oil-change page says specialized equipment is required and tells the owner not to change the oil and filter.
| Item | Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5 L engine | Genuine Honda Motor Oil 0W-20, or API premium-grade 0W-20. Change 3.4 US qt (3.2 L). Change including filter 3.7 US qt (3.5 L). Footnote *2. | Specifications table, *2 is the 1.5 L engine |
| 2.4 L engine | Genuine Honda Motor Oil 0W-20, or API premium-grade 0W-20. Change 4.4 US qt (4.2 L). Change including filter 4.7 US qt (4.4 L). Footnote *1. | Specifications table, *1 is the 2.4 L engine |
Each figure stays with the source named in the last column. If a sequence is a figure in that source and the order is not printed in the text, this page does not invent the order.
| Fastener | Torque | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil drain bolt | 30 lbf-ft (40 N-m, 4.0 kgf-m) | Changing the engine oil and oil filter |
The changing-the-oil section says specialized equipment and procedures are required, tells you to have an authorized Honda dealer replace the oil and filter, and says not to attempt the change yourself.
If you are reading the printed procedure, it warms the engine, shuts it off, removes the fill cap and the under cover, drains the oil, replaces the filter, and torques the drain bolt to 30 lbf-ft (40 N-m, 4.0 kgf-m).
The procedure lists 3.7 US qt (3.5 L) and 4.7 US qt (4.4 L) as including-filter capacities. The specifications table assigns 3.7 US qt to the 1.5 L (*2) and 4.7 US qt to the 2.4 L (*1). Change amounts without the filter are 3.4 US qt (3.2 L) and 4.4 US qt (4.2 L) on those same footnotes.
The printed steps say to install the fill cap, run the engine, check for leaks, wait three minutes, read the dipstick, and reinstall the under cover. A genuine Honda filter is recommended. No filter torque is printed.
The engine footnotes in the specifications chapter are *1 for the 2.4 L and *2 for the 1.5 L. A later footnote on the CVT row redefines *1 and *2 as 2WD and AWD. That redefinition belongs to the CVT capacity, not to the oil row above it.

Part
Genuine Honda Motor Oil 0W-20 or API premium-grade 0W-20
Both engines use that grade. The manual recommends a genuine Honda oil filter and does not print an aftermarket number.
