Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, turn it off, open the hood, and remove the oil fill cap.
Remove the drain bolt and washer and drain the oil. Remove the filter. If the old gasket is stuck to the engine, detach it. Wipe the base, coat the new seal with new oil, and install the filter using the instructions supplied with it.
Install a new washer and the drain bolt at 29 lbf·ft (39 N·m, 4.0 kgf·m). Pour in the recommended oil. The procedure prints 5.7 US qt including the filter. The specifications table also prints a change of 5.4 US qt without that filter line.
Reinstall the fill cap, run the engine a few minutes, and check the drain bolt and filter for leaks. Stop the engine, wait three minutes, and read the dipstick. The low oil pressure indicator should go off within five seconds.
The specifications table and the procedure agree on 5.7 US qt when the filter is included. The 5.4 US qt figure is the change capacity on the specifications table, not a second engine.
