Battery electrolyte is acidic. Wear safety glasses. If fluid touches skin or eyes, wash with water and get medical attention. Do not smoke near the battery.
A case size that differs cannot be secured. A low 20-hour rate can let the battery discharge after a short time parked.
An unsupported Stop and Start battery can restrict the system and hurt restart.
Diagnosis
Type B and type C are both LN4 cases with different amp-hour and CCA floors.
These figures are from OM04011U. A 2016–2017 three-band voltage check is a different book.

Steps
01Read the open-circuit voltage
At 68°F (20°C) the open voltage is 12.3 V or higher. Turn the engine switch off and turn the high beams on for 30 seconds. Slow charge is 5 A maximum.
02Match the Stop and Start type
Type A is an LN3 case, 70Ah or greater, CCA 603A or greater. Type B is an LN4 case, 80Ah or greater, CCA 689A or greater. Type C is an LN4 case, 75Ah or greater, CCA 776A or greater. The book says to consult a dealer for which type. This page does not pick one.
03Disconnect the negative terminal first
The warning says to always remove the negative terminal first. It does not print a tray-bolt torque.
Notes
The amp-hour and CCA figures are minimums. The book does not print a Toyota part number beyond the case size and those floors.
Common mistakes
Removing the positive terminal first.
Treating type B and type C as the same battery because both say LN4.
Parts and tools
Outbound links only. BaySheet does not sell parts. Confirm fitment on the retailer page. Amazon links are searches for a real part name plus this vehicle. Tool rows do not get a product search. The search is not a part number.
Part
LN3 70Ah battery
Type A in publication OM04011U. Case LN3, 20HR 70Ah or greater, CCA 603A or greater.
Open voltage at 68°F (20°C) is 12.3 V or higher after the high beams have been on for 30 seconds. Slow charge is 5 A max. Stop and Start types are A (LN3, 70Ah, 603A), B (LN4, 80Ah, 689A), and C (LN4, 75Ah, 776A). The book says to consult a dealer for which type.
