Published repairs below cite a manual or a manufacturer chart. Coming soon pages are names only. Capacities and torque on this year stay on this year.
This year uses publication A1340BE-A, file MSA5M1907A. The towing table in that PDF is headed Crosstrek models. The Warranty and Maintenance Booklet was not read.
Oil, coolant, CVT fluid, brakes, spark plugs, the battery, tire pressure, wheel nuts, and both filters are filed from that book. A drive-belt deflection sentence in that PDF was cut off in the text layer, so that job is not filed.
2019 is publication A1340BE-A, file MSA5M1907A. The towing table in that PDF is headed Crosstrek models. Other Crosstrek years are not filed here.
Copied from the published guides for this year. Each figure stays with that guide and that guide's source. Open the guide before you use it.
| Guide | Item | Figure |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic transmission fluid | CVT fluid | 11.3 US qt (10.7 L, 9.4 Imp qt). Consult a Subaru dealer. The book says the indicated quantity is a guideline. |
| Automatic transmission fluid | Service | Consult a Subaru dealer. The remarks column points at the CVT fluid section. No change mile is printed in this owner's manual. |
| Battery | Battery type | 75D23L. |
| Battery | Alternator | 12V-130A. |
| Brake pads and rotors | Brake fluid | FMVSS No. 116, DOT 3 or DOT 4. No capacity is printed. |
| Brake pads and rotors | Mixing | Never use different brands together. Avoid mixing DOT 3 and DOT 4 even if they are the same brand. |
| Brake pads and rotors | Level | Check monthly, on the outside of the reservoir, between the MAX and MIN lines. |
| Brake pads and rotors | Brake discs | The usage-limit value and the measuring method are not printed. The book says to consult a Subaru dealer. |
| Cabin air filter | Arrow | The arrow mark on the filter must point UP. |
| Cabin air filter | Removal | Glove box is opened and the damper shaft is released. Pinch both tabs, remove the filter cover, tilt the end down, and pull the filter out about 0.4 in (1 cm) before pulling the rest. |
| Cabin air filter | Interval | The Warranty and Maintenance Booklet was not read, so no mile is stated. |
| Engine air filter | Removal | Unsnap the two clips on the air cleaner case (rear). Open the case and pull the cover rearward while lifting it up. Remove the element. |
| Engine air filter | Case | Clean the inside of the air cleaner case, front and rear, with a damp cloth, then install a new element. |
| Engine air filter | Interval | The Warranty and Maintenance Booklet was not read, so no mile is stated. |
| Engine coolant | Capacity | Manual transmission 8.0 US qt (7.6 L, 6.7 Imp qt). CVT 8.2 US qt (7.8 L, 6.9 Imp qt). SUBARU Super Coolant. The quantity is a guideline. |
| Engine coolant | First change | Factory fill does not require the first change for 11 years or 137,500 miles (220,000 km). |
| Engine coolant | Mixing | Do not mix with any other brand or type during that period. Mixing reduces the life of the coolant. |
| Engine oil and filter | Required grade | 0W-20 synthetic. API SN with the words RESOURCE CONSERVING, or ILSAC GF-5. |
| Engine oil and filter | If synthetic is unavailable | Conventional oil may be used if synthetic oil is unavailable. |
| Engine oil and filter | If 0W-20 is unavailable | 5W-30 conventional may be used to add oil. Change back to 0W-20 synthetic at the next oil change. |
| Engine oil and filter | With filter | 4.7 US qt (4.4 L, 3.9 Imp qt). Low to full is 1.1 US qt (1.0 L, 0.9 Imp qt). |
| Spark plugs | Recommended plug | DILKAR7B8 (NGK). No gap is printed. |
| Spark plugs | Replacement | It may be difficult to replace the spark plugs. The book recommends that a Subaru dealer replace them. |
| Spark plugs | Interval | The Warranty and Maintenance Booklet was not read, so no mile is stated. |
| Tire pressure | Sizes | Specifications table: P225/60R17 98H and 225/55R18 98H. The temperature example prints P225/60R17 98H and P225/55R18 97H. Wheel size cells are 17 × 7J and 18 × 7J. |
| Tire pressure | Cold pressure | Front 33 psi (230 kPa, 2.3 kgf/cm2). Rear 32 psi (220 kPa, 2.2 kgf/cm2). The example uses that pair for both sizes it names. |
| Tire pressure | Temporary spare, U.S. and Canada | T145/80D17 at 60 psi (420 kPa, 4.2 kgf/cm2). The temporary-spare section also says 60 psi (420 kPa, 4.2 kg/cm2) and not to exceed 50 mph (80 km/h). |
| Tire pressure | Other-models spare | 185/65R17 at 42 psi (290 kPa, 2.9 kgf/cm2). |
| Tire pressure | Wheel nut | 89 lbf·ft (120 N·m, 12 kgf·m). The footnote says this is about 88 to 110 lbf (40 to 50 kgf) at the end of the wheel-nut wrench, then have the torque checked. |
| Wheel lug nuts | Wheel nut | 89 lbf·ft (120 N·m, 12 kgf·m). |
| Wheel lug nuts | Wrench note | Equivalent to about 88 to 110 lbf (40 to 50 kgf) at the end of the wheel-nut wrench. If you tightened the nuts yourself, have the torque checked at an automotive service facility as soon as possible. |
| Guide | Fastener | Torque |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel lug nuts | Wheel nut | 89 lbf·ft (120 N·m, 12 kgf·m). |
