Numbers on this page come from the cited source. Match the engine before you use a capacity or a torque. Do not work under a vehicle held only by a jack.
Safety
Do not remove the air induction system unless you are repairing or servicing it. The warning says it can protect against a backfire.
Make sure nobody is near the engine compartment before starting the engine with the air cleaner removed. The warning says that can cause serious injury.
Clean the housing if it is dirty before you install the new element, so debris is not left in the intake.
Symptoms
Dirt or debris in the element is the inspection reason to replace it. The interval itself is in the maintenance-schedule section, which is not given a mileage in the filter chapter.
Diagnosis
The 3.6L and 5.7L share the cover figure that was read. The 6.4L has a separate cover figure and is not a 1500 filter job on this page.
No part number was printed in the removal section, so none is added.
Tools
None named beyond the clips
Release the spring clips. The procedure does not name a screwdriver size. The cover figure also shows a clean-air hose clamp.

Engine air cleaner filter installation
Steps
01Release the clips and lift the cover
On the 3.6L and 5.7L, release the spring clips from the air cleaner cover and lift the cover to reach the filter.
The cover figure also shows the clean-air hose and its clamp. The written removal steps that were read start with the clips.
Engine off, and do not start it with the housing open while anyone is near the bay.
02Remove the element
Remove the air cleaner filter element from the housing assembly. If it shows dirt or debris, replace it.
Inspect and clean the housing before the new element goes in.
03Install it inspection-surface down
Put the element in the housing with the inspection surface facing downward. Set the cover on the locating tabs. Latch the spring clips.
Mopar filters are recommended. No part number is printed here.
The housing is not redrawn. Open the manual for the cover figure.
Notes
The interval is in the maintenance-schedule section. The filter chapter says to use that schedule and does not repeat a mileage in the steps that were read, so no interval is invented here.
Common mistakes
Installing the element with the inspection surface up.
Starting the engine with the cover off while someone is near the bay.
Using the 6.4L cover figure on a 1500.
Inventing a part number.

Outbound links only. BaySheet does not sell parts. Confirm fitment on the retailer page. Amazon links are searches for a real part name plus this vehicle. Tool rows do not get a product search. The search is not a part number.
Part
Mopar engine air cleaner filter
Recommended as a high-quality filter. The removal section does not print a part number.
Release the spring clips, lift the cover, remove the element, clean the housing if it is dirty, install the new element with the inspection surface facing down, set the cover on the locating tabs, and latch the clips.
What is the part number?
Not printed in the section that was read. A Mopar filter is recommended. Confirm the number at a dealer.
Does this cover the 6.4L?
No. The 6.4L has its own cover figure in the same chapter, and that engine is not the 1500 procedure used here.
